Spiritual Sundays - The White Dog

I have no picture of this remarkable dog, but I will tell you the story.
When our children were young, I was a jogger. Every morning, I would get up early and run around the park area near our home.

One morning, I had just started out, when a big white dog joined me and jogged along beside me as if he had been doing this for years. It made me feel very safe to have this huge dog running with me. Halfway around the park, a rabbit ran across our path and I thought, "There goes the dog. He's bound to chase after the rabbit!" But the dog ignored the rabbit and stayed right beside me. We passed a construction area, and a big truck with workers in it drove by - but I felt very secure with my jogging companion.

Arriving home, I collapsed in a chair on our front patio, and my dog friend lay down beside me, looking at me as if to say "We had a good run, didn't we?"

Wanting the children to see the dog, I poked my head in the front door and called them to come out. As I turned around, the dog was gone. I looked up and down the street and up the hill in the back yard, thinking I would see him leaving. It had only been a minute - no time for him to get very far away. There was no sign of the dog.

As I pondered this incident, I wondered if this white dog could have been an angel sent to protect me from some unknown danger. The Scripture verse came to mind from Psalms 91:11 "For He shall give His angels charge over you to keep you in all your ways." Or in the Living Bible "For He orders His angels to protect you wherever you go."

I never saw the dog again, although I looked for him every time I jogged.
I will never forget him, or God's watchcare protection over me that one morning.

According to the Bible, God does send angels to watch over us; I never read about a dog, however. The important thing is to thank God for being with you.

Oh, how I loved your story, Ruthie! I do believe that God was using the dog to protect you from harm that you did not realize. I think that when we are young, God uses such incidents to help us along in our faith. He doesn't always show us that we are being protected even though we are.

Thank you for your kind comments on my blog this morning. Have a blessed Lord's Day!

Ruthie, angels have been on my mind so much lately. This is such a wonderful account of how the Lord can send us an angel. You may never know what having that dog with you that morning prevented. He watches over us and if He had the angels helping people thousands of years ago why wouldn't we have them. He never changes! Great post!!!!

Evening, Ruthie. Loved your story. You know, I believe God does send angels to protect in the form of other beings. I have a couple of similar stories and believe with all my heart that my God was protecting me. Thanks for sharing this marvelous story!
Be a sweetie,

Oh....my.....gosh....! My grandmother had a very similar story! She was a young lady working at a bakery and she had to go in very early in the morning like 5:00 am. She had to walk and she was scared, but every day there was a big white dog that was waiting to walk with her! He was there every single day that she worked! Isn't that amazing! Our God is soooo good!

What an amazing story.

A very long time ago my husband and I went on a camping trip with his parents. We all stayed together in a very small camper. During this trip I came down with a very nasty case of the stomach flu.

After several trips back and forth to the bath house in the middle of the night I eventually got so tired and opted to settle down on a lounge chair within a short walking distance to a small tash can (a little to much infomation I know) but what I remember inbetween bouts of nausia was this wonderful large white dog who came up and setteled down beside me and stayed with me all night long and watched over me while I was sick.

I was such a comfort to me to reach down and just place my hand on this dog and know that as everyone rested comfortably in their tents and campers this dog was there just being with me.
When I read this post I was immediatly reminded of that white dog of so long ago!
HMMMMMMMMM makes you think!
Blessings
Robin

GOD IS GOOD, ALL THE TIME!!! AND HE WATCHES OVER HIS CHILDREN!!
As my youngest child returned home in the wee hours of the morning from a concert... she began to notice a problem with her car..she called me to tell me of the difficulty with her car... She didn't know that I had already been up praying. As she got off the interstate, a car followed her into the neighborhood and right to our door. Then shouted and said, just making sure you got home safely!!! could have been an angel!
