My Baby Book Rejuvenated

While getting photos for my China Childhood Memories, I noticed that my Baby Book is totally deteriorating! And if I don't do something soon, it will all be lost.
After all, this book is now 71 yrs old - and has been to China, to India, and all over the USA. The pages are all coming out of the book and the edges of each page falls apart when you touch it.
I got a new archival safe scrapbook, scanned the front of the old Baby Book and put that picture in the front of the new book.

This is taking a lot of time and effort, but it will be well worth it, knowing the book will last longer. I want to save the original writing because it is my Mom's handwriting and so is very special to me.
Here are the books side by side on my desk - looks better, doesn't it?

Hi Ruthie, I would love to have anything in my mother's handwriting, and you have pages and pages. Although you have the new book. I hope you can find some way to preserve the old from further deterioration, because as they say, "There's Nothing Like The Real Thing". Deb

Yes, I'm keeping the old pages - just trimming the ragged edges and putting the whole page in the new scrapbook. Sometimes I have to zerox the back side to get it on a different page. But I have all the pages. I really wish I'd have done this sooner ...some of the words are not there anymore - just worn away. But I caught most of it in time.

That is fabulous! I love it! It is neat that you are restoring it and yet you are saving the original things as well. Do you think you could show us a few of the pages and what your mother wrote about you? I would love to see more!

It's amazing all the things we can do to replace and duplicate. I'm so glad you've preserved this wonderful treasure.

One Christmas, my father took all the old video film and put them on vhs or his parents. That meant so much to them to preserve those old family videos. Now that they have both passed away, I am so glad to have those to pass down to my children. Family history is so important. It tells so much of who we are and where we've come from.

How very special is it you still have your baby book... Not many people can claim that one... and the best part is your mothers writing in it... I have several things with my mom's writing on it and those are very precious to me... Thanks for sharing and yes it does look good... Have a great day...

Ruthie, I am very sentimental and seeing your baby book was so special that I actually got shivers. Isn't it wonderful to have something in which your mother poured her love of you?

It's beautiful, I bet it's still hard to let go of the old book that traveled so far and wide with you :)

The front of your baby book looks a lot like mine. Looks like it is the same color. Mine is in pretty good shape to be so old. I'll have to post it sometime.
