China Childhood Memories - Suspension Bridge

I have never liked heights. When I found this picture a few years ago, I remembered the story my Mom told of a suspension bridge in China many years ago. We had to cross a suspension bridge that was fairly long. It was very unstable, swinging to and fro, with boards missing in places. As you walked, you could see the rocky depths below! My Dad went on ahead to test the strength of the bridge and Mom and I followed. My Mom had faced many dangers in her missionary travels, but this time she was fearful. When we were half way across the bridge, she couldn't go any further. She and I sat down on the bridge and waited until my Dad came and helped us across the rest of the way.

Many times we face challenges in our lives, and we feel we can't go any further. Then our Lord comes, takes our hands, and leads us to victory.

Wow, Ruthie. I love these stories of how God led your family in China. I would have been scared to death of that bridge.

I always enjoy your stories about China. I don't enjoy heights or bridges so I can relate to your Mom's fear.

What great stories you have, I just love each and every one. It would be by the grace of God that I would be able to walk across that bridge.
God Bless,
Ginger

I don't know that bridge, but there was one like it in my childhood memory and I do remember the terror in my heart each time I had to cross it! I like the spiritual application you drew from it, as we often have bridges full of fear in our lives. We must take just one step at a time, as we are only given light for each step as we come to it.

You and your parents had some very scary experiences. I loved the application you drew from it. It is so true! Our precious Lord does come and help us across many perils in life. Thank you for this post.
Lots of Love,

I love the analogy. I just have one question... did you have to go back over the bridge? Just wondering!
