Presidential Inauguration 2009

Every four years, our country gathers to install and honor the President that we have elected. We have a peaceful and smooth transition as the new President is inaugurated and enters the White House. It is a wonderful demonstration of our Democracy and it awes and inspires us all.
These are some of the sights I took of the TV as the day transpired. Our capital in all it's glory -
The statue of President Lincoln -
President Obama being sworn in as his wife Michelle holds the Lincoln Bible -
And the new and former President and First Ladies after the Inauguration- as they say their goodbyes.
It was a memorable day.

We now will pray for President Obama as he takes on his new responsibilities.
We also want to thank our out-going President Bush for the eight years of service that he gave us.

As the choirs sang "God Bless America", we agree! And we are proud to be Americans!

Great shots. Unfortunately, Comcast cut out when Obama was giving his speech.

God bless our great country.

Oh Ruthie! That was lovely....and you are so right, we do need to pray.....and pray.....and then pray some more. I didn't vote for Obama, but made a conscious decision to support him and to pray for him in all that he has to do. Today's beautiful ceremonies were part of our history, so I took it all in.

As I watched George and Laura walk to their waiting helicopter, I couldn't help but think how maligned he has been, yet he remained so gracious under fire. I hope history will be kind to him!

My heart was warmed as the two couples exchanged hugs at the end. I felt it was genuine. I know the Bushes have gone out of their way to be gracious and welcoming to the Obamas since the election.

This was an emotional day for our nation....and a memorable one!

It was an inspiring day. I thought that President Bush was gracious. I remember when he first arrived, the Clinton staff removed the "Ws" from every keyboard! Not nice. Bush showed how to be a gentleman, and it paid off. The transition was smooth.
