Unexpected July 4th visitor

A baby Robin!

While my DH was downstairs in his study, he heard some loud frantic chirping.
Outside, in the window well, was a baby robin who had fallen down into our very deep window well and it couldn't get out.
We tried various means to retrieve it. It could fly just enough to elude capture, but not well enough to fly out. Finally, my hubby got a green plastic rake and the baby bird hopped onto it. (I guess it looked more like grass).
We raised the rake and let the baby robin hop out towards the grass. We watched until the baby found it's mother.
My dear hubby, the bird rescuer. A job well done.
A little later, the mother robin perched on our porch post and chirped a thankyou.

I am so.. glad your husband got the baby robin out of the window well. We've had a problem with baby robins getting into our window wells this year. 1 died before we got it out. so, sad...
Hugs, Terrie

That is a deep window well, it's a good thing robin rescuer was home! How wonderful to go to so much trouble, some people would have left that baby. Robins are so amazing when they sing, don't you think?

I have enjoyed reading over your blog home, your China pictures are so memorable.

Thank you for dropping by last night, I was born and raised in northern Minnesota, I've visited Colorado and you are right, they are both very beautiful places.

Kathi :)

Mom, what a great post. Reminds me of something Grampa would have done. I love that great shot of the sad birdie waiting to be rescued.
