This morning, the sun was shining, the birds were singing, the light dusting of snow from yesterday was melted, and it reminded me of a song my mom used to sing to me when I was young .
It's called :
"The Birdies in the Treetops".
I wasn't sure I remembered all the words - when I googled it, I found it is still on lots of kids song CDs! Wow. But couldn't find the lyrics or who wrote the song. Does anyone have that information???
Here are the words as I remember them.
"The birdies in the treetops
sing their songs,
The angels chant their chorus
all day long.
The flowers in the garden
lend their hues,
So why shouldn't I,
Why shouldn't you,
Praise Him too."

What a lovely picture! Such a sweet song too, I remember it!
Hugs, Sharon
I remember Gramma singing that song.
Great photo. Where was that taken?
Thanks. The photo was taken at the RV Park in Minnesota last time we visited there. I had to follow that cardinal around and around the park to get that picture.
I know we don't have cardinals in Colorado. It almost looks unreal.
Come read about my great news!
Hi Ruthie,
thank you so much for visiting my blog and for your kind comments...I dropped by for a visit with you and saw your beautiful spring photo of the cardinal...sounds like you are getting ready to hit the road...
do you travel all summer?
Oops..I think I deleted the first comment I made. Love the picture of the cardinal! Would make a great Christmas gift tag, too. Now that I sing Gramma's song in my head, I think you have the lyrics right. Have a great day...welcome Spring!
I've been seeing a bunch of photos of birds lately on blogs and emails. I enjoy seeing them! I don't think I know the song, it's cute. Thank you for your sweet comment on my growing boy! It made me smile to read and remember we can have new things to look forward to.
Beautiful picture! I used to sing that song in Sunday School when I was a kid...
I remember it this way...
"The birds upon the treetops
sing their songs,
The angels chant their chorus
all day long.
The flowers in the garden
blend their hues,
So why shouldn't I,
Why shouldn't you,
Praise Him too."
But of course I could remember it a bit off - now I'm going to be singing it today :)
Thanks all for your visit.
Mimi, We belong to a Good Sam group and go camping once a month with them for a long weekend. Then we take some time RVing with other friends that we've met in past years. :)
Ruthie, I love birds. We don't have many cardnials here. But, we did have a pair this winter. It was such a treat. I hope they stick around. Hugs, Terrie
